Wakasa Bay is a ria coastline of sheltered inlets, calm and clear. Just about 1.5 hours by car from Kyoto — paddle through sea caves and rest on beaches you cannot reach on foot. A local shop established in 1995, running SUP tours since 2013.

FOR FIRST-TIMERS

For First-Timers

SUP (stand-up paddleboarding) is a water sport you do standing on a board and paddling. The boards are larger than a typical surfboard and suit cruising on calm water. Most of our guests are first-timers, so we teach the basics and experienced staff accompany every tour as instructors.

A ria coastline
The Obama area is a ria coastline of narrow, interlocking inlets. Swell from the open sea rarely reaches this far in, leaving calm water. The terrain is also what makes the sea caves and hidden beaches reachable only by paddle.

A Blue Flag beach
Wakasa Wada Beach, one of our tour bases, was among the first beaches in Asia to receive the international Blue Flag certification, in 2016. The certification assesses not only water quality but also efforts to protect the environment and ensure safety.
