Please follow these rules for safe SUP

  1. ① Always wear a life jacket (required even if you are a strong swimmer).
  2. ② Carry a mobile phone for emergencies.
  3. ③ Bring marine shoes (recommended) or sandals to protect against rocky shores.
  4. ④ Stay away from swimming areas and beachgoers. If you must pass through a swimming area when launching, move offshore promptly.
  5. ⑤ Stay at least 50 m away from fishing ports, fish pens, and rafts.
  6. ⑥ Stay away from fishing boats and other vessels. If you see a boat in the distance, keep clear of its path; if you get close, stop and follow the boat’s instructions.
  7. ⑦ Fishing boats may have trouble seeing SUPs and paddle craft — wear bright, visible clothing.
  8. ⑧ Follow instructions from local people. If you are new to an area, ask parking staff about prohibited zones and cautions.
  9. ⑨ Do not leave litter. If you find litter you can take with you, please take it home.
  10. ⑩ During the July–August swimming season, SUP is prohibited at Ano and Inukuma beaches.
  11. ⑪ Outside July–August, only the nearshore area inside the tetrapods at Ano is open to SUP. Never enter the private beach area beyond the shore.
  12. ⑫ SUP and paddle craft are prohibited in the Tagarasu Tsurube district, Nishi-Ogawa beach, Kao beach, and the Ugu area.
  13. ⑬ Harvesting shellfish such as turban shells and abalone is illegal poaching — do not collect them.
